How YouTube cards can boost your business' promotional videos

I'm putting this out here for all those businesses who make videos for promotion. Here's how YouTube features can help you make your videos interactive and connect your business.

Cards are one way to link and interactive with the audience - and they work on mobile and here is an example.

1. Plain video - here's a fantastic video from photographer, videographer and drone camera pilot  Chris @takenbychris.co.uk





2. Video with enhancements - here's one we've prepared earlier.

There are a couple of enhancements which we can apply to a video ( you can do it yourself, or email Mark Hopgood, mark@hopgood.eu who can do it for you) .  There are a couple of changes




When you start playing the list you'll see a card appear - its a link to the itunes store for a track,
but it could be a link to your website.

Here's a breakdown of whats seen on the user's device

1. card text appears saying listen on iTunes now - a call to action

2. if the card link is clicked a preview of the page appears giving further info and a further call to action

3. finally if the card is clicked, the visitor is taken directly to the apple store.

Played It Twice (Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody / David Bowie: Changes)

Rainbows, memories and reflections.

Mark from PUMK2015 was relaxing in his studio and listening to the vocal guide of their new tune, 'Played It Twice'. The rainclouds broke and brilliant sunshine came through. Mark was reflecting on a trip he'd taken one summer and how one of his friends joining them had passed away since. Suddenly the phone rang.

It was his neighbour telling him that a rainbow had appeared at the front of the house. Time to investigate. What he saw next filled his heart with joy. A double rainbow.

The song was due to be recorded in the studio on 20th May, however an interesting twist in the story is that the surviving friends from the trip were attending a reunion. So Mark stuck with the vocal guide for the time being and attended the reunion. Here's the youtube video.

A tune about a trip taken by 4 teenagers one summer holiday. Escaping the city they travel west.Only three friends survive now and the remaining friends still have fond memories of their time away. The song, Bohemian Rhapsody featured in the trip as it was played on their tape deck as they drove along and sang to it.

Increasing the audience for your music with Facebook and dnldr

For new acts trying to get established in the music industry, there can be a lot of expenditure with very little return, especially in the beginning of your career.

Having a web site, distribution and marketing all cost money. Here's a checklist of what you might need as a minimum to get started, not in order of priority / importance.

When Mark N Hopgood, producer known as PUMK2015 was going through his 80s tapes, alongside Spinach Vibes from Ronny was a tape he didn't remember. So it was time to dust off the old tape machine and have a listen.

The tape in question was labelled ( You Make Me ) Show My Love and marked with a master sticker in red and on the case was written Demo.

What happened next was the stuff of legend. The tape played wonderfully and it all started coming back to Mark, aka Oncle Gilbert, Record Producer for Fade File Publishing. It was an old demo he had put together many years ago, before he'd even had a track played on radio.

So this demo has now been sent off for re-recording and mastering with Mark's favourite female vocalist "rinewolve". Stay tuned for the release. In the meantime, here's a recreation of that initial play of the demo itself, never before heard until now.

So for your enjoyment we present the rediscovered, previously lost and hidden demo of the forthcoming track ( You Make Me ) Show My Love, exclusively via YTX Factory.

Of course this is just a story. What really happens is up to you.

How to generate an income using your music and dnldr

As a professional pop producer, I'm always looking to new unique ways to promote my music. This blog post will help you decide whats best for you and give you a new and unique way of promoting your music online.

Q. What's the difference between a professional and amateur musician?
A: Professionals get paid, amateurs do not.

Anyway here's what's required to in terms of effort to make the move from amateur to professional -

Assuming you have a high res WAV file and MP3 file, professionally produced and mastered, here are some options...


1. Play on BBC Radio 6 music - revenue approx £13 per play

a. Register with PRS and get a PRS ID
b. Create a BBC uploader account
c. Create a sound cloud account
d. Contact Tom Robinson at the bbc 6 music new music site
e. Upload your mp3 to soundcloud
f. Upload your mp3 to BBC introducing
g. Wait for an email from a producer who will hopefully add your track to the playlist


2. Sell on itunes - revenue $0.8 per sale

Using a service like catapult can get you in all the major stores such as itunes, amazon and streamers like Spotify.
